College Board Best-known as the site for signing up for the SATs, the College Board is a nonprofit association with a mission to connect students to college success and opportunity. There is great information here for researching colleges and careers, and for financing your education. Note that it is possible to request a fee waiver for tests - check your eligibility. College.gov A federal website that offers information about planning and financing higher education. Annenberg Media (a division of the Annenberg Foundation) uses media to advance excellent teaching in U.S. schools. There are materials for free and for sale at this site, but one of the best resources that can help teachers increase their content knowledge, demonstrate teaching techniques, and suggest creative lesson plans. For example, in "Bungee Jump" (Math for grades 9-12), students work with functions and statistics while they investigate the mathematics of bungee jumping. Center For Excellence in Teaching (Boston University) Although this website is primarily directed toward higher education instructors, it includes a variety of helpful information, from using your body language effectively, managing your time wisely, detecting plagiarism, to crafting an outstanding c.v. Curriculum Frameworks for Massachusetts. Edutopia (The George Lucas Educational Foundation) provides teachers with information about "what works" in education. The site's core ideas include Integrated Studies, Project Learning, Technology Integration, Teacher Development, Social and Emotional Learning, and Assessment. The site also promotes its magazine of the same name. Alternatively, you can sign up for a free E-newsletter. FREE Federal Resources for Educational Excellence makes hundreds of internet-based education resources supported by agencies across the U.S. Federal government available at one web site. The subject headings are: Arts & Music, Health & Phys Ed, History & Soc. Studies, Language Arts, Math, and Science. I Love Schools This site helps you connect with donors who may provide materials, supplies, and equipment for your classroom or your school. Massachusetts Business Alliance for Education Based in Boston, the MBAE developed the conceptual framework for the 1993 Education Reform Act. They work with business leaders, educators, policymakers and others in the community. Their website offers news about current issues and events related to education in this state.
